Now there is no need to gather so many
documents to apply for passport if you have your Aadhar card. Yes, if
you have your Aadhar card with you then it will be sufficient to apply
for your passport and it will act both as your proof of address as well
as proof of identity, The Ministry of External Affairs has directed all
the concerned authorities regarding this. Till now there was a need of
14 types of documents which include Identity
card, ration card, PAN card, driving license, birth certificate etc. If
you have your Aadhaar letter with you then you will need not to submit
some of the above mentioned documents. Actually, Aadhaar is 12-digit
unique identification number that is unique for every individual that
consist of demographic and biometric information of its holder. UIDAI is
the regulatory body for issuing of Aadhaar numbers in the country and
till now they have issued around 24 crore Aadhaar numbers in the
country.
The Maharashtra government has announced
that Aadhaar is compulsory to get benefits of 11 different schemes in
the state. A special drive is also on in 5 districts of the state viz.
Mumbai, Pune, Amravati, Nandurbar and Wardha. The schemes are Post
Matric Scholarship for SC Students, Pre Matric Scholarship for SC
Students, Pre Matric Scholarship for Children of those Engaged in
Unclean Operations, Post Matric Scholarship for OBCs, Post Matric
Scholarship for Students with Disabilities, National Means cum Merit
Scholarship, National Incentive for the Girl Child for Secondary
Education, Post Matric Scholarship Scheme, Janani Suraksha Yojana,
Permanent Disability Benefits, Dependent Benefits, and Sickness State
Insurance Corporation schemes. The beneficiaries are thus advised to
enroll themselves for their Aadhaar numbers as early as possible.
